Gail,
The pulmonarias that are bred from the species longifolia (from memory, I
hope that is right) do not mildew. Bertram Anderson is one, the flower is
the best blue of the lot. There are quite few others. The leaves are long
and pointed. Mine seem to be taprooted so division is "wait until an offset
appears". Every other kind mildews here at some time or other in the season,
dryness being a certainty. Also they seed around so when you think you have
cleared them all, up comes a few more. They are pretty so you leave them and
eventually the mildew arrives. Mildew on pulmonarias does not kill them.
You shear off the plant to the ground and they will refoliate. One more job.
