A darling short groundcover that I just saw growing wild in the mountains
of North Carolina is Partridgeberry (Mitchella repens). It seems to be
evergreen with white flowers and sweet red berries. Will that work for
you, and is it commercially available?
If not, something similar that would do the job is the green moneywort
(Lysimachia nummularia)--or you could use the gold, or a mixture. This
seems to work well with hostas (I use it) and it is vigorous but not TOO
vigorous.
