Re: Devil's Arum/ Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello Jim,
Devil's arum is Dracunculus vulgaris. Sauromatum venosum is Voodoo lily.
Sauromatum just completed blooming here in the pat week or so. The stems and
foliage are now coming up. Why do you say yours is sulking?
Arum italicum will be going dormant before long ... or the ones that do
not set seed will be. Foliage just began fall over this past week as all the
blooms have been pollinated and stalks are beginning to form. Once the
berries are complete... sometime in August, I will be digging and dividing.
That is the best time to transplant arum italicum in my opinion. If they are
already in pots, one can transplant any time, I suppose.
Most of the arum family loves the extra moisture. This year my Arisaema
hetrophyllum is right at 5 feet tall.
We have a local forecast of dry weather for the next 4 days... hopefully
I will be getting out into the garden to pull some weeds, do a bit of
transplanting.
