There is a lot more than you'd imagine that
grows in dry shade. I have successfully grown
musk roses, bleeding heart, valerian officinalis,
filipendula ulmaria, epimediums, vinca, aronia
(chokecherry - a shrub), eupatorium, violets,
Spanish bluebells (don't know the botanical
name, they keep changing it!), monkshood, and
an oakleaf hydrangea. Astile did not work, they
looked pitiful, so I moved them. Also lamium
works great and a cushion spurge (name escapes
me). I do water in the summer, but as you
probably know, the tree steals most of the
moisture, even when you water.

Hello all,
I'm in zone 4 and am looking for ideas for
plants for dry shade. I have
hostas which do well but would like different
perennials.
