Hi Clyde,
  Thanks for the response.I took your advise about testing the
PH in the soil and I found that  my gardens are at a PH
level of  7.I think I will test for nitrogen as well. I guess
I am doing things a bit backward.I should have tested
3 years ago. Oh-well.
  I decided to go with Astilbe'Inshiach' between my Bleeding Hearts.
They are a late bloomer 15"x15",pink,very glossy deep green leaves.
  Does anyone have Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum' ? I just put one in
and am trying to find out how tall they get.I looked it up and have found
three different answers ranging from 12-24".
