I purchased a Primula juliana during the Mother's Day weekend.
Per standard procedure, I divided the potted plant into plantlets,
nine in all, and planted them on my northeast-facing slope.
Gets morning sun until about 11 am, then dappled shade for the
rest of the day. Very sandy soil with added peat, mulched with
shredded cedar, have been watering if it hasn't rained in
48 hours. Noticed that five of the plantlets have completely
disappeared. The remaining ones look healthy, no yellow leaves
or crown rot. No evidence of any animal digging around the area
or slug damage on surrounding plants. Any ideas?
Should I suspect the cedar mulch? Or does this primula go dormant?
This is the first P. juliana I've tried.
