Allan Armitage list them as separate species in the 2nd edition of
Herbaceous Perennial Plants (1997). The American Horticultural Society's
A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants (I really with they had chosen a shorter
name), Lists C. 'Brunette' as a form of C simplex and has no listing for C.
ramosa.
