Out to my shade garden early this afternoon to commune with my weeds, and
think about where I want to plant some things. I climbed the slight rise
in the middle of the garden, and went to look at my Hillside Black Beauty
cimicifuga, which has been in the ground about 3 weeks.
It's gone. Gone! The ground hadn't been disturbed, it hadn't been dug up,
but every leaf and stalk was gone from the ground up. Even the marker was
several feet away.
I did find some of the stalks, but they're too withered to try and root.
I've no idea what sort of pest has done this, but can anybody offer me any
encouragement: will it grow back?
Karen. [really bummed]
