Sorry, but I can not resist jumping in here.
When giving a slide presentation I usually ask do you want this in
botanical latin or English? Guess what? I have yet to give a presentation
giving the names in latin. The sheets I hand out to follow the slides have
the common names on the left the botanical on the right so you can order or
purchase the correct plant.
You know, I am aware of the importance of correct identification. Just
that sometimes it is OK to watch a Redbird in flight and actually see the
breauty while it is there and not be thinking of, or looking in the book,
to find the correct latin ID.
