Black vine weevils don't eat anything to the soil. They leave sharp
telltale notches in leaves. Their larvae do more damage underground. Jan
should see her county extension agent about the problem. Drenching the
plants with a solution of diazinon when you don't even know what you're out
to kill is not a good idea. Margaret
