Nancy -

I don't have this plant and I know I could not grow it here---but I looked in
my "big book" and it says exactly that - "grow in humus-rich, leafy, moist
soil in partial to deep shade."  It doesn't say that it is difficult just
that it is a slow grower and likes moisture------Good luck, the picture they
show is beautiful.
