Re: [SG] Hellebores

I can maybe shed a little light. Tallahassee is in a very hot and humid
climate, official zone 8B, but I am in town and winter lows are 5-8
degrees higher. I have grown H. foetidus and H. x orientalis for
several years, and H. sternii for about two years. They have all
survived, but not really thrived. H. foetidus bloomed twice and also
reseeded, but the seedlings have been very slow to establish. H.
orientalis bloomed all but this year, and has established itself well
but not increased. No problems with pests or dissease, but the H.
foetidus parent plant eventually turned black and died, as I have read
they are prone to do naturally.
