Hi Clyde. The Aruncus aethusifolius is a very small plant in
comparison with A. dioicus ~ I tend to use it as a groundcover.
It usually only grows to 10 - 12".
For a shade garden I designed last year I used both of these
Aruncus with Cimicifugas. They are doing beautifully though they
are in a slightly different environment than my own are. I
believe the secret to these guys is the proper balance of
moisture and sun. That is, they can take more sun if they are
kept moist. I have a friend growing A. aethusifolius in a sunny
bog garden. A. dioicus can tolerate drier conditions than A.
aethusifolius.
