My MIL cut back one of her hydrangeas to the ground and then dug it up and
gave it to me.
"you're supposed to do this every year in the fall , " she assured me as I
gasped in horror.
2 years later it is still alive....however, it is still only two feet
tall...where at one point it was 6x5ft.
I only prune out the dead wood. =)
