Sweet Potato Vine

Hi all, I have never grown one of these but a friend gave me 'Blackie'
today. I love the way they look but have no idea whether it wants sun or
shade. Can someone advise? Also, does it really climb or is it more of a
hanging plant, and is it possible to take cuttings from this plant to
propagate it? Thanks.
