Colocasia

Hi. Does anyone know if these bulbs (specifically C. esculenta 'Black
Magic') do better sitting in water, or do they need good drainage? I see
some kinds in water in botanical gardens and other kinds in a more normal
situation. Also, how hard are they to winter over? I have terrible luck
wintering over things but I wanted to give this one a try because I believe
the plant will get much bigger with an older bulb.
