Hostas can be potted and brought indoors like a houseplant.

I was in transit for two years and had potted a french hydrangea...(it was
cut way back), but I had it outside...I'm not too sure about bringing it
indoors, maybe someone else can help you there.

(P.S.  I'm sorry to hear about all that Pottsey..you must be devastated!!)
