I recently heard Rick Darke (former curator at Longwood Gardens) give a talk
on grasses and sedges -- excellent! He spoke of Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'
-- how slow growing and hence more expensive it was, and highly recommended
Hakonechloa macra 'Albovariegata'. He said this was fairly new and was an
excellent substitute -- it grew more quickly, did well in a container (it
also was also a bit taller -- 3', in case that makes a difference to
