Alaska Fern

I believe that is Polystichum setiferum.  That is a very pretty,
easy-to-grow fern.  It survives under ordinary garden conditions, and will
even take a little dryness, as long as you give it a shot of water now and
then...but try to keep it out of direct sun during the 'intense' times of
the day.  Some of mine were finally killed after three years of struggling
through noon-day sun, and I am on a pretty northerly latitude.  I should
mention that the blue and variegated hostas planted with them have come
through each year with but a few tatters at summer's end, so that goes to
show you how sensitive to intense light the fern is.  Oh, I almost forgot:
it does benefit from fertilizer in the spring...I use fish emulsion.
