I guess I didn't describe the situation accurately. The ivy is growing
over an enormous area over the ground, not merely up the tree.

It's the dedication that I just don't have! Ha-ha-ha
I am aware that trees don't live forever, that many species grow in the
woods, and that many ills can beset a living organism. I was only passing
along what I was given as a possible scenario, so readers can judge from
more than one opinion...we join these lists for just that reason. If I
have caused some offense or people have found me annoyingly stupid, SORRY.
