Root Ball Size

Ok, I finally got something that had been on my wish list for a while, the
Schizophragma hydrangoides 'Moonlight' . For the same price, I had the
choice of getting one in a one gallon container (same height as the other
one, but with less stems) vs. one in a smaller container -- both looked the
same healthwise. I chose the one gallon size, thinking the larger root ball
would be better and the top growth would later reflect this. Any opinions
on this? Also, should I do some very light tip pruning to help it bush out
more (it's leaves have broken out, but are still small). Thanks for your
help. Mea
