Re: Tellima grandiflora 'Forest Frost'
Hello Deb,
Perhaps the winter coloration the Fringe Cups is a regional thing... but not
sure as the ones I ordered wholesale are doing the same as the one I purchased at
a local nursery last fall under a cultivor name. We may also be dealing with the
fact that I am slightly color blind in some hues. Perhaps I am picking up
something you are not in the coloration.. but I definitely see a kind of
pumpkin-orange behind the bronzing.
The landscaping I have begun is on the east side of my house. Bed will be 9
feet deep with a 4 foot path to match the outside edge of a new 12 foot deck.
About 24 feet long. Have to make a transition from shade garden plants to sun
plants at one end of the bed. A bit tricky. Shrubs are already set out in pots to
look my arrangement over before digging in. Begining to place underplantings
around the shrubs now, but this one will change several times before I complete
the final arrangement. So far there are two dwarf Nandina, a Forthingilla, dwarf
cydonia (sun end), and a peris japonica. Two christmas ferns are behind the peris
at this point. have a mature autumn fern I am trying to work in along with fringe
cups and variegated jacob's ladder, bugbane 'Brunette'. Much more work to go yet.
Will be also working in some sandstone rocks and moss for the darker corners
between deck and house, air conditioning unit. Perhaps a garden ornament of some
type in the corner where the draft for the ac comes from.
Having a good time so far. Get to think about it for a few days... turned too
cold to play outside and rained.. so no digging for a bit.
