I grow miniatures in pots so they don't go unnoticed.  I've had one
in a pot with black ophiopogon for about 4 or 5 years without
fertilizing or additional soil.  Really low-care.  Well, it gets
watered of course since only natives and mediterranean plants survive
our rainless summers without hose help.
