Re: Epimedium

Hello Anelle,
I have one of those "invasive" epimediums. First one I purchase was at a
local nursery and the owner told me to keep an eye on it for it would take
over my woodland garden. It is now 10 to 12 years later and I am still
waiting for the invasion. It is now about 4 feet across and about 3 feet
long. High open shade, half way decent soil, no real competition, no
fertilizer.
I think things quite often get quoted and passed on without any real
knowledge to back up the statements. People do not really know, so they
parrot. Lot of that goes on in gardening publications and other sources. I
have not seen the article in Martha or the author.
I can not imaging a shade garden without some epimediums. In fact, I am
now on the lookout for the smaller ones to go in my troughs along the paths
in the garden.
