Last year, when I cut back my buddleias, I stuck a few long branches in a jar
with water and a branch of willow.  They rooted quickly, and as cuttings,
matured faster than usual, as the wood was already one year old.  I also plaaced
some of these long cuts into my prop tent, and they too rooted quickly.
