Okay I was'nt to sure by what the instructions meant

Well I went ahead and planted them 6 inches into the ground. The dogs
taks care of the rats.

Yes I live in Northcarolina zone 8a winters are mild though some winters
are rough. Summers are hot. The lilies are showing signs of coming up but
the weather people say that overnight temps will be in the 20's
hopefully I don't lose anything.
