<< Hi, Sherryl. Just a note on a similar thing - I have a Hosta montana
aureomarginata growing in Vinca. Now, I have heard that this hosta is by
far the earliest up in Spring and one of the first to flower; also supposed
to be extremely vigorous. Mine is the absolute LAST to send up pips,
doesn't flower till midsummer, if at all, and is no larger than when I
purchased it four years ago. Well, maybe it has one more leaf. So, is it
the Vinca's fault?

Hi!
It is not montana 'Aureomarginata'. It is probably Hosta 'On Stage'.
But whatever it is, move it from the vincas. Hostas do not compete with
vincas. The latter win every time. Also, English ivy will finally smother your
hostas.
