I find this information very helpful. I'd like to expand the scope of this
discussion to include even more ground covers, like Pachysandra terminalis and
procumbens (Japanese and Allegheny spurges), Lamium maculatum (spotted dead
nettle), Tiarella cordifolia (foam flower), Phlox divaricata (woodland phlox),
Mitchella repens (partridge berry), Myosotis sylvatica (forget-me-nots, the
perennial one?), Paxistima canbyi, Iris cristata (crested iris), and any
Lysimachias (moneyworts) or the short Thymes...
I know there are many more I haven't mentioned, or even heard of....
What plants, herbaceous or woody, has anyone tried to grow through these and
other ground covers and then found out that the ground cover was just too
aggressive for the plant? It would be helpful to include what the growing
conditions are when describing your experiences, like whether the area is
moist or dry, shade or part shade, what zone you live in. For example, I've
heard that Lysimachia nummularia is not a problem for us up here in zone 4 but
that it is farther south because we can easily pull it out where we want
to...hmmmm....can you also include how easily it is to remove from around your
other plants if the competition appears to be too much?
Thanks,

p.s. I know some of this info has already been discussed, but I'd like to
start compiling it now....why didn't I think of this earlier?...I'm so new at
this (about 3 or 4 years now) that I'd appreciate any info at all!
