Ginny, I'm not a professional, however, I do have some peonies and they just
don't flower when they are in the shade - at least that is what I have
found! They get nice green foliage but the flowers are not as nice or as
plentiful in the shade.
I had mine in the same location for 20 years, and the trees finally shaded
them so much I had to move them two years ago. It takes them awhile to
adjust to a new location - they are not happy being moved - but hopefully,
this year they will be better.

hmmm..... What peonies can you grow in the shade? Thought they needed
sun.
