Hi, Bobbi. I forgot to answer all your questions. The rockwool is the
growing medium for hydroponics, sort of a substitute for soil or peat, so
it serves to stabilize the plant. My husband said that he thinks rockwool
is also used as insulation in high-temperature ovens.
