cornus canadensi

Gene,

There is one more thing on bunchberry. I remembered this when I finished the
last post. I lived next door to an amateur naturalist for some years and
learned a few things about the north woods from him. His specialty was the
Adirondacks.

He thought there was a theory that the native dogwoods formed a symbiosis with
a conifer. He had two cornus florida planted at the edge of a huge white pine
and they were much better specimens than mine. You might try that with the
bunchberries. The theory of symbiosis in botany could be learned simply by
observation, I suppose.
