Denise, I am not familiar with the variety you just purchased, but I have
had birch in my yard but I have them sprayed every year for birch borer - I
lost one section of one clump a few years ago but another grew and took its
place and my two clumps are big and beautiful. I am in zone 5. Just
inquire around your area to see if you need to spray for birch borer.
