I would never, ever dream of using Zoysia grass here in Michigan (Z5).
It is NOT a grass for colder climates. Your beautiful lawn will only be
green for 2 months. The rest of the time it will, as you say, look like
straw. I think it should be against the law to advertise it in Z5.
