They can and do, but mostly for travel as their dining tunnels are very
shallow, under leaves and mulch. There was a link to a photo of them in a
post I made sometime in the wee hours...
All critters are total opportunists and will use anything they can find to
help them survive.
Mice also use mole tunnels, I understand. Little critters who are prey to
many will use any means of getting around out of sight that they can find.
