I feel cats are a great asset to a gardener, particularly if you are more into
flowers than birds. I like birds, but my main interest is in growing plants
and raising plants from seeds. I have had the worst problem with robins
scratching seedlings out. We just lost a great garden cat who kept squirrels
from digging plants out and Robins from scratching seedlings out.
I did feel bad however, when he caught a baby bluejay (who does no harm to
gardens). I tried to rescue it, but it died during the middle of the night
and I felt just awful.
I also feel awful however, when creatures cause hundreds of dollars worth of
damage to my prized flowers or seedlings.
Just my opinion
