I've had a good seed set (for a change) on a few varieties of Ranunculus
ficaria. The seed heads (like little spiked balls) are still green, and
the flower stalks bending down so that the seed heads are touching (or
nearly) the ground. How do I know when the seeds are "ripe"? How do I
go about collecting them? If I want to "self seed", are there any
cultural practices I can follow (surface grit, extra summer watering,
etc.) do get a higher in situ germination rate? I'm assuming these
seeds are ephemerals .. I'd like to be an ephermeral list donor, but
don't want to try it until I've had a year or two of experience with
seed collection.
