Re: Rust


In the book Mushrooms of Northeastern North America by Bessette, Bessette and
Fischer,  the rust Uromyces ari-triphylli, commonly called
"Jack-in-the-Pulpit Rust"
is pictured and described. The species name would suggest that it is
host-specific, but possibly not. That rusty orange part is what mycologists
call the "fruiting bodies" and corresponds to seed of plants. So if you
destroy the rusty part, you are helping, but you still haven't gotten all of
it.
Do we have a mycologist on line who can shed more light on this subject,
especially how to get rid of it?
