Hi, Tam,
Did you have any unexpected late freezes after the hostas were up?
These two (I'm pretty sure) both have plantaginea parentage and you live
fairly far north; they are ultra sensitive to cold compared to other
hostas. Since the white parts are more fragile than the green anyway, I'd
guess that they are reacting to an unexpected (to them) drop in temps.
