Re: bleeding heart (dicentra) problem


Well, Hank, I don't know the reason, but I have found this a
relatively short-lived plant in my garden.  It does not seed around
like D. spectabilis, but, as you say, sort of fades away after a few
seasons.

I'd be interested to find out what might cause this...anybody else
experience this behavior?

  I have a number of everblooming bleeding hearts, probably Dicentra
eximia "Luxuriant". Some of the older plants turn from their normal
mid green to yellow and then gradually lose their vigor. Some die
after a year or so. Can anyone give a diagnosis of the problem? Other
species of plants growing nearby grow normally.
