leaf hoppers

How much danger do these pose? I have quite a few, mostly around my
goatsbeard and astilbes, but am inclined to leave them be since I don't see
any damage. If I'm wrong, and they're a serious problem, is there a
relatively non-toxic way to send them to their maker(s)?
