-> Hi Lucy ... of course you have winters, but probably very nice winter
climate (zone 9 or ?) - probably you have some of the nicest climate to
live in on earth :)
I am not sure if my moss grows in winters here .. depends on if it is frost
or not I suppose? I think if it was like this winter it would as long it is
mild (except of on white Christmas week there were no frost before February?)
But it looks very nice in winters - like there is still life in the garden
- not 'grey and dead' - and I also have planted both conifers and rhodies
so in combination with the moss the garden does not looks dead -
I like evergreen gardening a lot. I guess if I lived in a climate with a
lot of snow that would be different if all plants were covered by the snow
and you could not see it. We seldom have snow staying for a longer time ..
couple of weeks or so .. then rain maybe .. and like that it can change all
the time in winter - a strong bare frost like this winter is exceptions.
Hungry birds and frost .. I don't know? We use to feed them with apples
and other good stuff for smaller birds ... but they found some fun or
goodies in the moss ... I have small walks around everywhere and I hardly
see them because they were full of moss the birds had 'thrown' out there.
