A friend had one species (R. boothii) that was 15 years old (from
seed) and hadn't flowered. He gave it to me and I had it for a
further 25 years still with never a flower. I was not unhappy when a
tree fell on it.
I have had a few of my hybrid seedlings flower in only 6 years, but
10 years is more usual, and some from 1972 are flowering for the
first time this year.
I choose ones with beautiful foliage so lack of flowers won't matter.
