I can hardly believe what a stupendous year this turned out
to be for the tree peonies in my zone 5b garden. Maybe it's a
combination of some of them finally getting older (i.e., in the ground
more than 4 years), the very mild winter we had, and the very wet cool
spring we are now having ... anyway, my hubby counted a total of 184
blooms on 10 plants.
Of course, there are other nice things in bloom too like
forget-me-nots, double buttercups, stoloniferous phlox, aubrieta,
columbine, fothergillia, anemone sylvestris, wood poppy, wood
delphinium, shooting stars, etc. at the same time. It's all a gift of
the garden gods ...
