I haven't dealt with a Davidia with a missing leader, but chances are
that one of the top branches will start to grow straight up, and
make a new leader. Happens all the time in lots of other plants.
Only thing you need to do is to make a nice clean cut just below
the broken area... just like you were pruning a rose.
Plants can put up with a lot.
