To quote Ferns for American Gardens: The Himalayan maidenhair has a
rhizome which branches to form a low mat; the rachis is two to six inches
long and black. Fronds are three to four inches wide with the blade oval or
triangular, bipinnate to tripinnate. The segments are wedge-shaped, smooth
and toothed, with only one or two sori per segment. Species is venustum.

Thanks Gene.
Next question: Athough my plant of it comes back every year it doesnt seem to
increase in size or "divisions." I have it in open shade where hostas thrive.
I fertilize it with the foliar Miracid.
Do you think it would do better if I transplanted it in better soil? It is in
an old bed that I havent amended in 15 years or so. Can it be transplanted in
this hot weather we are having here in central Indiana (Temps in 80's F.)?
Thanks again for the info!
