Hello Karen,
Welcome. Sounds as though you are having a good time playing with your
renovation and restoration. I can not think of a better way to spend one's
time than in a shade garden. In looking for Lilies for shade try the
Martagons. Some are quite tall at over 8 feet with up to 50 blooms per
stalk. Lilium superbum, the Turks Cap lily is another good one to try.
These like bright edge of the woods type shade. In fact, you can grow many
of the lilies in bright open shade that are considered full sun only.
Blooms last longer and hold color better.
My specialty is woodland wildflowers and rare or unusual perennials for
shade. You may want to check out the catalog in my web site. No obligation
to purchase anything, of course. There is a 32 page hard copy catalog there
to read and perhaps pick up some ideals for more shade lovers.
