There was a thread on this plant on Alpine-L recently. some of the people
who replied were din PA, IL, and Mass. That is a definite zone 5. If you
are in zone 4 I would use a protected spot. Give them as much light as you
can for best bloom. You are further north than I so you may be able to grow
in full sun. some of the gardeners in the thread did grow theirs in full
sun. Good, rich soil with lots of compost and well drained in the winter.
Aren't they lovely? And so easy to grow.
