I think this hits the nail on the head. One more question, since we seem
to have some people with knowledge on the subject: I know that Siberians
do well in a moist area, but mine are all planted in ordinary beds, where
they receive supplemental watering. Could my lack of success with growing
them in full sun have perhaps be due to a need for an increase in watering
when grown in sun (like hostas)? The soil here has good drainage, and
covers sand, so it dries pretty quickly on a sunny day. I had thought I
was giving them a good soaking, but perhaps not good enough.
