I haven't heard that one, and if I did that would make me want even more
flowers than I have in the front gardens (semi-rebel here). I and millions
of people around the world must be clueless in the etiquette department! I
almost wonder if this thinking comes from a person that lives where a
strong neighborhood association strongly discourages anything but lawns and
assumes that is most people's thinking?

Just think how lifeless our neighborhoods would look without us gardeners
out there planting our wonderful gardens for the rest to enjoy with us.
