These flower gardens in front lawns, and those who advocate their use, remind
me of the little boy who refused to eat hash on a piece of toast. His mother:
"I don't care what your father called it when he was in the Army---eat it!"

Now Clyde, I do not care to much for spinach my self. But to put it in the
same class as Petunias is over doing your dislike of spinach.

I am not much of a Gardner, I am more of a collector my self. So I do not
even pretend to know what looks good or bad.
The grass thing is all right in it's place and I can't for the life of me see
what people see in bearded Iris or some other types of plants.
But we all have diffrent tastes, when customers come to me for advice about
were to plant their plants and what combinations they should use I say "What
ever you like is right" and "but do not come to me looking for the best
design" I am happy to point them to a good book or some other source.
I can tell them what each plant needs to live and perform well and how tall
they will grow and what color the flower is but the rest is up to them.

For my self I am beginning to like a solid planting of one or two items more
each year. 25 of the same daylily or the same ASTILBE grouped together
appeals to me.

But I must admit this is my favorite time of the year, when all the plants
are looking fresh and vigorous.
The Hosta this year look spectacular with there large leaves unfolding and
the mixture of greens, blues, whites, golds and yellows. Do to this fact, I
am a happy camper (plus I see that my baneberries are still with me) and not
in a disagreeable mood at all.

I am very sure that I would love clydes yard, even with his grass.
